For Columbus Day weekend I took a quick trip to Austin. Here I am visiting the Texas State Capitol. The weather was warm during the day but a little chilly towards the evening so a sleeveless blouse and long knit cardigan worked well as an outfit choice to take me through the day. Austin was a fun city to visit and I hope to go back soon!

Bring out the boots, light jackets and gauzy scarves because fall is here! Pairing a patterned scarf with solid basics is a nice way to bring visual interest to an outfit. You can easily change the colors and textures of any of the basics in this outfit and it’ll most likely work with a patterned scarf – especially one as versatile as this one with a cheetah print. Pair with edgy boots and accessories like a studded wrap bracelet and a slouchy leather hobo and you’ve created a casual, yet put together fall outfit.
Even though these Rag & Bone booties are a high ticket item they’re worth the money in their price per wear, quality, wearability and comfortability. Highly recommended! Now I just have to stop wearing them every day.

I happened to take a weekend trip to Newport, RI the same weekend that the America’s Cup was taking place so I was lucky enough to go see it. I’m not into sailing at all but it was still a fun experience. Even though it was a very hot day there was a constant breeze coming off of the water so we weren’t sweating. I wore a breezy red silk shirt, white shorts, a wide-brimmed straw hat, big sunglasses and two piece flat sandals. It was a relaxed chic outfit for a fun, outdoors event in the heat! Get a load of the Prada boats in the photo above (Italy’s entries to the race).

Newport, RI is one of my favorite places to visit in the summer – there’s so much to see and do! One of my favorite things to do in Newport is visiting the famous mansions, especially the ones constructed by the Vanderbilts, like The Breakers. Here I am visiting the Breakers on a hot summer day a few weekends ago.

Happy 4th of July everyone! I chanced upon this fantastic stool/side table by Jason Phillips on gilt.com the other day. It looks like something Hansel and Gretel would have in their living room and I’m totally obsessed. It’s pretty pricey, however. Think I should try to make one of these at home with a tree trunk section and some silver spray paint?
My go-to weekend outfit in the summer is a long maxi with sunglasses and large tote. I’m partial to purple bags but my hands-down favorite bag is my purple Beirn bag. It has a single strap so it’s easy to carry and it’s roomy enough to stash all of my stuff. Colorblock maxi: Old Navy Maternity, Sunglasses: Chloe, Stud Hoops: Forever21, Bracelets: Rainbow Stores
This was a recent last-minute brunch recipe made mostly from dinner leftovers: roasted mushrooms and potatoes got folded into eggs beaten with parmesan and the whole thing was put into the broiler for ten minutes on high. I topped it all off with my favorite summer-time salad topping: baby argula.
